Inspirational Update - 25 August 2024
“Taking care of our [aging] parents gives us the opportunity to learn from their wisdom and experience. It is a chance to gain a new perspective on life, to appreciate the little things, and to priority what truly matters.” — Unknown
“Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots — but you have to play the ball where it lies.” — Bobby Jones
“Sometimes, when I see my granddaughters make small discoveries of their own, I wish I were a child.” — Dr. Seuss; “Granddaughters: a beautiful reflection of yesterday, a joyful promise of tomorrow.” — Unknown
This is the first month that we have not traveled since I retired and I’m getting a little antsy. Our van is still in the shop, but progress is being made, so we hope we can travel in September and October on the East Coast with a long trip in December.
In the meantime, I have spent a lot of time with my Dad and I’m still trying new things every week. This week was full of love for my family and doing quite a number of new things - from my first full round of golf with Jack to my first presentation for Alzheimer’s Association.
Most importantly, our little Rosie (our youngest granddaughter) turned 18! We love and miss her so much. She now lives in Tennessee and we do not get to see her, but we chatted with her and it sounds like she is doing well. Sending her lots of love and hugs and hoping to see her very soon!
Take time this week to love on your spous, parents, children, and grandchildren — family is important!
